If youโre working from home and looking for a quick inexpensive way to level up your home office then I am your plug for your next DIY office project. A cork board, bulletin board or in my case, a dry eraser board cork board is a great way to organize important notes, reminders, or to hang cute photos and magnets. Stay tuned on how to do your own Bulletin Cork Dry Erase Board Makeover with this short and simple blog post.

I was going to throw away my old bulletin board because it didnโt really fit in with my new glam office decor style. It was a dark wood espresso and had some scratches and dings on it from moving. It was really an eye sore, but decided to Glam it Up and save my self a few dollars instead with this Bulletin Cork Dry Erase Board Makeover.
Instead of painting the dark wood, I looked for a wide dimensional lace or tulle like ribbon. I found Berwick Offray Flower Large Black Ribbon at Walmart for $3.96 which comes in a little more than a yard per roll. I needed two for my project based on the measurements of the frame so one roll per every 36 or so inches.

- Bulletin Board/Dry Erase/Cork Board
- Ribbon of Choice or Berwick Offray Flower Large Black Ribbon
- Hot Glue Gun & Glue
- Stencil of Choice or Waverly 6โณ x 6โณ Damask Floral stencil
- Paint of choice or (I used DecorArt Elegant Finish Metallic Paint in Glorious Gold DAO71)
- Tape (I used scotch tape. Painters tape if you canโt help but paint way far outside the stencil)
- Stencil brush or (I used a sponge brush)
After wiping down the board with alcohol and allowing it to dry I applied several dabs of hot glue to the back of the ribbon and placed it exactly where I wanted it. Hot Glue guns come in hot and low temperature, both will work fine for this project. I prefer the hot so that the I can use it for more projects and it will last longer. You can purchase a glue and gun from craft or home stores such as Hobby Lobby, Walmart, Michaels, JoAnnโs Fabrics, Loweโs and Amazon.

Applying the Ribbon
You could seamlessly glue this type of ribbon all the way around without cutting without noticing because itโs so fluffy. I did cut my ribbon at the edge of the board and started again in the other direction close to the ribbon so that it looks seamless and in a square shape just like the frame.
Stencil Time!
Once all the lace was applied and all the glue was dry I used a metallic gold paint and Waverly Damask Floral which is sold at Walmart and Amazon. You can find similar stencils at your neighborhood craft stores. The damask style stencil is timeless to me and goes well with my office. These stencils can be used over and over again. A latex or water-based paint canย easily be removed with warm soap and water once youโre finished with your project.

The stencil only comes one in a pack. I taped the stencil to secureย and dabbed the gold paint using a sponge paint brush on to the stencil making sure the paint is not running or bleeding, but still obtaining a nice pigment. I removed the first stencil carefully while it was still wet just to make sure it looks good and I didnโt need any clean up prior to allowing it to dry. Once it was dry, I did the same thing with the second stencil while mirroring the image and aligning the stencil with the previously painted design.
I found some cute magnets, two photos I love, one in a magnetic gold frame and some gold stick pins and DONE! Like I said earlier, a simple and quick project to upgrade your home office, just uniquely crafted by YOU!
My dry eraser cork board looks fabulous in my office. It goes so well with my thrifted desk I painted as well as my chair painted with leather paint.
