It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! ? I’m starting my Christmas dining room decor and looking forward to my close family Christmas visit this year.
Since I’m originally from the Midwest and there is rarely snow in Texas, I am going with a Peace on Earth Winter Wonderland Christmas Theme. I’ll be decorating my buffet aka sideboard, although I use mine for storage only. I’m super excited! Shopping for my Decor
I will be shopping at Hobby Lobby and At Home for my Christmas. At Home is like “THE CHRISTMAS STORE”, but they never have sales so I am going to Hobby Lobby first where everything is 50% off this time of year.
Upon my arrival at Hobby Lobby, I am instantly drawn to Robert Stanley’s Winter White Collection to be the inspiration for the rest of my theme. Checkout what I’ve purchased so far below! These pieces look kinda small in photos below, but they are pretty nice size and the tree is HUGE! As of 2021, Hobby Lobby still have many of these pieces online and in the stores, so get them while you can!
Final Collection of Winter Wonderland Elements
I now have a silver reindeer set from Ross and a few pre-lit tiny Christmas trees and angels that change colors. Also added a few votive candles with silver Christmas foliage. Ross currently still has a set of 3 little cone shaped Christmas tree signs that reads, Home Sweet Home, So Bless and Family.
I already have silver decor in my dining room. See how my buffet looked before Winter Wonderland here. Going with the same theme color you already have will definitely help save money. The silver tapered candle holders, I already owned will be perfect.
The only thing left to is faux snow, which a snow blanket and iridescent faux snow will do. So that it isn’t just flat and average in the front of the buffet, I’ll add a silver and white garland twisted with a string of lights. You’ll see how this comes together very soon! Also, adding two silver reindeer I already have. From there, adding in 2 doves into a frosted mason jar with dollar store faux floral. I already have everything else required to complete my buffet.
Peace on Earth Winter Wonderland Becometh
The blanket of snow is perfect and more than enough to fold in half so that it is thick and not see through.. If you want to get even more fancy, you could place a couple of battery operated string lights under the blanket of snow. The lights that dim in and out would be perfect. I didn’t do this for my buffet, but I will be doing this with the dining table, so you’ll soon see. I won’t be sprinkling the faux flakes of snow until after everything is in place.
Because my Christmas tree is the largest piece on the buffet and really the star of the show, I’m placing it in the center and aligned in the center with the mirror behind it and the buffet’s center. Now that everything is in place, I will add my faux snow flakes and then my garland twisted with battery operated string lights and bow-tie made from silver wire ribbon. My battery container is hid under the snow blanket and behind the tall flower arrangement.

Here are a few close-ups of my Winter Wonderland theme. I absolutely love the Doves and what they represent during the holiday season. I’m very happy with how it turned out and looking forward to doing the dining table next. See video of buffet at bottom of this entire post. Step by Step Peace on Earth Winter Wonderland Dining Table
Adding a folded snow blanket to table. Fold to runner width and length or to desired size and cut the extra off. Add string battery operated lights underneath if interest and tape the batter holder with duck tape underneath the table.
If you have a tray or centerpiece, place this next. My silver mirrored tray is 15 in by 14 inches. The larger your table, the larger your centerpiece. See a variety of trays here. Also, here are a few ideas for Christmas centerpiece ideas:
Complete styling your center piece and tray. Yes! I know, my centerpiece has coastal elements. This will stay and I will add Christmas decor to it. It’s fine with me if anyone else notices the coastal elements, and will make a good conversation starter 😀
As an festive option, you could add battery operated and timed string lights underneath the folded snow blank. Just tape the battery holder underneath the table.

Adding my long stemmed faux hydrangea florals on both sides of my centerpiece. I love how these look great all year long.
Peace On Earth Winter Wonderland Dinnerware Styling
My momma gifted me this German dinnerware over 15 years ago right around when I got my first place. I kept the set safe in storage for many years. It’s white, silver and gray with rose design and silver trim. I will be setting the table for 6 adults and adding glassware.
I have 2 packs of these silver Dove Christmas Value Pack Ornaments that are half off from Hobby Lobby. Also, a pack of silver snowflake ornaments. I will be cutting off the string hanging loops from the ornaments. There are also two in the Christmas flower arrangement on the buffet left side.
I clipped on one dove to each folded napkin and then placed one snowflake underneath the Dove and on top of napkin.
Final Touches to my Dining Table Christmas Decor
From this point I just sprinkle some faux snow over the snow blanket. I also add my faux white poinsettias to the centerpiece – and Done!
