They add freshness to the place, making it more pleasant to look at, regardless of whether you used artificial or real plants.

Test Tubes Wall Planters
Iโve never seen test tubes used as planters before, so this post from Bonnie Christine really caught my eye! I think the end result looks amazing and very elegant, especially while paired with the copper bell hangers. The entire project cost her less than $5, so that was really cool too.
Again, securing the test tubes seems to be rather tricky, but the way this DIY wall-mounted vase looks makes it worth the effort. I also think that this is the perfect medium to show off beautiful blooms, especially since theyโll be the center of attention in these!

Nesting Herb Crates
If you want an easy DIY project, then you canโt go wrong with a wall-mounted vase made out of nesting herb crates. Theyโd make for a great statement piece, whether you choose to hang them vertically or horizontally.
These Nesting Herb Crates below are created by Repurpose and Upcycleย have a vintage feel to them, but feel free to make use of whatever herb crates you find lying around. For instance, hereโs an Amazon find that looks rustic yet still modern.
Old Paint Cans
Many DIY projects involve old paint cans, and wall-mounted vases are no different. This is completely unsurprising, though, given how versatile this particular material is. For instance, larger paint cans can be used for your big, leafy plants while smaller ones are perfect for herbs and succulents.
The paint can wall planters below is by Simple Stylings, who created this small herb garden forย their deck. I honestly love the minimalist vibe that she went for, but you can alwaysย dress yours up with vibrant colors and wacky textures.
Birchwood Rounds
If your design aesthetic is more unconventional, then these wall-mounted vases made out of birchwood rounds are perfect for you. These would be the ideal spot to display small potted plants and can even double as a storage spot for your favorite knick-knacks.
Keep in mind that these will need to be secured really tight, though. Francesca Stone of Fall For DIY made use of small metal brackets and screws for her birchwood rounds, although you can always add more materials to stabilize yours.

Mason Jars
While old paint cans make for great wall-mounted vases, mason jars do too. Their transparent bodies make them even cooler and add a rustic charm to whatever space you put them in.
For her project, Stacy Risenmay, of Not Just a Housewife chose to mount her mason jars on stained wooden pieces, which made the โvasesโ even more eye-catching. In my opinion, it also lent more freshness and vibrancy to the plants themselves.
Vintage Syroco Wall Planters
Iโm in love with all things vintage, so I couldnโt pass up the chance to turn this Syroco wall planter into my version of a wall mounted rose box! You can easily find Syroco vintage planters on Ebay, Poshmark, and Etsy. You can also opt to upcycle one of your old wall planters instead.
For this project, I made use of hard foam to secure the blooms inside. I also went with faux white roses because of how well they went with this style wall vase.
Recycled Tires
Pinterest has been inundated with photos of rubber tires as planters, but the hype surrounding this DIY project is well-deserved! Besides the adorable end result, itโs also really easy to find unused tires lying around, so you donโt have to spend a ton of money just to buy the necessary materials.
For her planters, Lemon, Bean and Things actually spent less than $80 โ with the way hers turned out, I think thatโs quite a steal! She also did hers in super bright colors, although Iโm excited to try it out with more muted shades.

DIY Show Off needs new tires, so simply decided to upcycle hers. Adding vibrant Exotic Sea paint and hanging on her deck as a floral wall planter of colorful annuals allowing her to be create different looks throughout the year.

Colander Planters
To be honest with you, I had a good chuckle over this DIY hanging colander planter that Mommyโs Kitchen made. Still, I canโt deny that this is a great and incredibly nifty idea โ after all, I have way too many unused and semi-broken tools in my kitchen right now!
Now, Iโm sure that youโre concerned about the soil falling out of the colander, butย coffee filters were actually used to hold it in place. Burlap fabric can also be utilized,ย as well as any other material that you find appropriate.

Plastic Soda Bottle Planter
If youโre going for the traditional DIY planter look, then soda bottles are undoubtedly your best friend. Recycled plasic bottle can hold every kind of plant imaginable, from succulents and herbs to beautiful pothos vines.
For her planters, Petro of The Sea Man Mom made use of soda bottles, which I think is perfect if youโre planning to use it for smaller plants. Also, keep in mind she does advise against painting the bottles with chalkboard paint โ according to her, they came right off the minute she tried to write on it.

Teacups
Iโm absolutely in love with how dainty and elegant these teacup planters look, especially when all lined up on a window ledge.
Rather than just use soil, Epheriell Designs also added some pebbles to several of the planters to make them look more aesthetically pleasing. She also used a variety of teacups, which I think definitely made them look even better.

I love this indoor tabletop water garden planter concept by Rad Megan. Itโs completely innovative, using the natural elements you may already having have hanging around the house.

Concrete
When I think of concrete, beautiful modular planters are the last things that come to mind! These geometric shaped cement planters by A Piece of Rainbow are simply too stunning to pass up, so I canโt wait to see what Iโll come up with when facing the same set of materials.
At first glance, these planters seem like they come from a high-end furniture store, so itโs pretty hard to believe that they were made out of actual concrete.

And, this concludes my list of 13 great ideas for DIY wall mounted vases and planters. Every single one of them looks stunning, and I canโt wait to try them out.
