Supplies Needed for Fall Floral Arrangement
I wanted an extravagant floral arrangement, so I’m using a large planter I already had that was purchased at Walmart a while back for less than $20.
I’m also using pebbles for weight and rocks at the top. I need the pot to be very heavy because I live in hurricane valley and I’ve seen even large plants in planters stolen in the wind. The most recent hurricane eye was right over my neighborhood, and it destroyed all of my floral planters. So, I know to make them 4 times heavier from now on!
In the tutorial video, you’ll see I fill the planter up halfway with these pebbles below prior to placing all of my faux florals.

Supplies Needed To Get This Fall Floral Arrangement Style And Size
It’s really a short list. You’ll need:
- Pot/Planter
- Wire Cutters (some stems will be too long and need to be cut)
- Filler Pebbles For Weight (I’m using Vigoro rocks and pebbles, however, floral foam would work too, but you may still add something heavy for weight)
- Fall Floral Flowers (6-8 Small flowers or fillers, 4 Medium flowers, 4 Spillers, 4-6 Tall Flowers)
- Planter Pedestal (optional, I wanted mine to sit up high for more extravaganza vibes)
Video Tutorial On My Michaels Clearance Floral Haul
You still have time to get to Michaels’s and find you some good florals for 50% off and higher! Also, check out the small Fall Value flowers, those are great for fillers. You’ll see me place those last in the video. They are a much better quality than Dollar Tree florals.
How To Choose And Coordinate A Variety Of Floral Colors So That It Won’t Look A Hot Ratchet Mess
When shopping for your faux florals at Michael’s fall clearance sale (or JoAnn’s or Hobby Lobby), the goal is to coordinate a variety of colors so your arrangement doesn’t end up looking like a hot ratchet mess! Start with a warm base color, like deep oranges or burgundy, to give your design that rich autumnal feel—think “I’ve got my life together” vibes. Then, layer in complementary shades like soft golds, blush pinks, and creamy neutrals to add dimension and balance. Trust me, these colors will work together like your favorite cozy sweater and pumpkin spice latte.
Now, here’s the fun part—mixing textures! Pair large blooms like hydrangeas or dahlias with wispy stems of eucalyptus or berry accents for some visual interest (and to look like you know what you’re doing). As you shop, keep in mind how the colors will flow together so the end result doesn’t scream “craft store explosion.” And hey, if you want to throw in a surprise pop of purple or rustic red, do it! Just remember, variety is the spice of life—and the secret to making your arrangement look Pinterest-worthy, not Pinterest-fail! (Keep you receipts sis! LOL)
The nice thing about shopping at Michaels, is that all of the florals are already placed together with other coordinating pieces. All of my florals in my arrangement were already on the same wall shelf and the discount Fall Value fillers were in the front of the store on the Fall Value Shelf.
How To Style A Large Extravagant Faux Floral Arrangement
Following along with the tutorial, I filled the planter half-way with the tiny pea pebbles. Then I started with the tallest stems and placed in the center of the planter.
After the tallest stems (pink and brown eucalyptus) which were secure centered inside the pebbles (you can also floral foam topped with sand or pebbles for weight), I added the taller hydrangeas, by surrounding the tallest stems with those and then added the two Dark Red Queen Anne’s Lace Stem by Ashland and 1 green filler, all of the small fillers, pond rocks for stability and finally the spillers. I placed the thinner Berry spillers first, one on each side and then placed the fuller floral spillers right on top of the thinner Berry spillers. This makes it looks fuller and fancy, versus using the berry spillers alone.

If you want to decorate for Halloween this year, and your porch is already fall ready, then you’re more than half-way there! The only thing left to do is adding in Halloween decorations similar to this photo below. I also did the Dollar Tree DIY Door Wreath in this photo.
