DIY Posh and Glam File Cabinet Makeover Ideas

4:33 am

I found this wooden file cabinet on OfferUp (a resale app) for $10! It is in pretty good shape outside of being extra dusty. The rollers worked really well, so the drawers pulled in and out with ease. Filing cabinets can be pretty expensive when purchasing new, so I recommend look for used options first.Continue Reading

7 Genius Ways to Reuse What You Already Have and Save BIG on Your Home Decor We’ve all been there—standing in the middle of a store aisle, eyeing that perfect vase or trendy piece of furniture, wondering if we really need it. Well, I’m here to tell you: You don’t. With a little creativity, you can reuse what you already have to decorate your home in a chic, eco-friendly way—and save a ton of money doing it. Let me show you how I’m already using these simple tips to create a stylish, sustainable home without breaking the bank. 1. Turn Old Containers into Cute Planters I’m all about keeping things cute and green, so I’ve found that plastic bottles, old jars, and even teacups make the perfect planters. I’ve used mason jars to create a cute herb garden on my kitchen windowsill, and now I’m saving money by growing my own fresh herbs right at home. Plus, it adds that personal touch that’s perfect for a cozy, eco-friendly vibe. 2. Get Creative with DIY Storage Clutter is the enemy, but you don’t need to spend a fortune on fancy bins and baskets. I’ve repurposed old wooden crates and vintage tins as stylish storage options around my home. These second-hand finds do double duty: they help me stay organized while being an eye-catching part of my decor. Why spend money when you can recycle and organize at the same time? 3. Give Old Furniture a Chic Makeover Let me tell you, I’m obsessed with upcycling! That old coffee table I found for next to nothing? It now has a beautiful new coat of paint, and it looks like I spent a small fortune on it. All you need is a little creativity, and you can transform outdated furniture into timeless pieces. It’s one of the easiest ways to save money while creating a home that feels fresh and uniquely yours. 4. Homemade Cleaning Products = Eco-Friendly + Budget-Friendly I’m not buying expensive cleaning supplies anymore. Nope! I use simple ingredients like vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice to make my own cleaning solutions. Not only does this save money, but it’s also a major win for the environment. I’ve been doing this for a while now, and I can’t believe I didn’t start sooner. The results are just as good (if not better) than store-bought cleaners, and my wallet is a lot happier! 5. Create Custom Wall Art from What You Already Have I can’t tell you how many times I’ve repurposed old magazines, fabric scraps, and even bits of leftover wallpaper to create stunning, one-of-a-kind art pieces for my walls. It’s so rewarding to look around my home and know that every piece tells a story and was created with something I already had lying around. And the best part? It costs me next to nothing to make. 6. Repurpose Worn-Out Clothes Into New Items The next time you think about tossing that old shirt or pair of jeans, think again! I’ve turned old clothes into everything from cushion covers to reusable shopping bags. Upcycling clothes is not only an eco-friendly way to breathe new life into your wardrobe, but it’s also a fantastic way to save money while creating functional, stylish pieces for your home. Trust me, once you start, you’ll never look at your old clothes the same way again. 7. Towel Transformation for a More Sustainable Clean Instead of throwing out worn-out towels, I cut them into cleaning rags. It’s my little trick for saving money on disposable wipes while being kind to the planet. Plus, they work just as well (if not better) for cleaning everything from countertops to glass surfaces. It's a win for your wallet and the Earth!
